PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide pre-tilt to determine an orientation of liquid crystal by applying uniform optical energy to an oriented film to obtain a liquid crystal display device with a large-size screen. SOLUTION: This device consists of an ultraviolet lamp 21, a lens 22, a polarizing plate 23 to polarize light, and a substrate 24 coated with oriented film 25, and the ultraviolet lamp 21, the lens 22, and the polarizing plate 23 are arranged in a line and the substrate 24 is irradiated with light at a fixed angle of a tilt. Also, the ultraviolet lamp 21, the lens 22, and the polarizing plate 23 are installed in a casing 20 and a scanning motor is installed in the casing 20 or on the substrate 24, and the substrate 24 is irradiated with the light while moving. Uniform optical energy is applied onto the oriented films 25 by irradiating the oriented films 25 sequentially and repeatedly with the light source and pre-tilt is determined for all the oriented films. In this case, the oriented film 25 is irradiated from an outer part to the other outer part with the moving light spot, which gives uniform energy to whole oriented film area including the end. The light spot is adjusted to move in a range of 5mm or less which secures the uniformity of the beam when moving vertically. |
