PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a pulse signal having pulse width shorter than that of conventional output pulse by employing two ring lasers such that a short pulse signal output from a first ring laser is inputted, as it is, to a second ring laser using an electrical signal for driving an optical modulator. SOLUTION: The optical pulse generator comprises an electrical signal driver 1 generating an electrical signal for driving an optical modulator, a first ring laser 7 being driven by an optical modulator driving signal delivered from the electrical signal driver 1 to output an optical pulse signal by forced mode synchronization method, and a second ring laser 17 receiving the output from first ring laser 7 and multiplexing it with a circulation light signal from the second ring laser 17 to produce a pulse signal pulse width further shorter than that of optical pulse signal from the first ring laser. A short optical pulse signal from the first ring laser 7 is inputted, in the form of an optical signal, to the second ring laser 17 to produce a short optical pulse signal exceeding the limit of driving with electrical signal. |
