<p>An improved ring light (60) includes a housing (64) having an opening (86), a plurality of lights (68) disposed within the opening (86), and a reflective surface (110) surrounding the lights (68) to reflect light toward the center of the opening (86). The reflective surface (110) permits the lights (68) to point away from the center of the opening (86) at an upward angle, which permits the ring light (60) to be more compact in size. The compact ring light (60) reduces the travel distance for a chip being inspected and therefore increases the productivity of a machine vision system in which the compact ring light (60) is used.</p> |
