The present invention relates to a head-mounted display apparatus and a method for operating the apparatus. The head-mounted display apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: a communication unit which receives a shot image and movement information of an unmanned airplane from the unmanned airplane in timeslot unit; a display unit which includes a forward screen divided into a plurality of sections, and additionally includes at least one side screen among a left side screen, a right side screen, an upper side screen and a lower side screen which are connected to the left side, the right side, the upper side and the lower side, respectively, of the forward screen; and a control unit which divides the shot image received in the current time slot into multiple partial images, displays the partial images on the forward screen and displays some of the partial images displayed on the forward screen in the previous time slot on at least one among the side screens. In this way, according to the present invention, it is capable of solving the problem of a narrow visual field of the image shot by the unmanned airplane, thereby providing the shot image with a wide visual field by using the head-mounted display apparatus and the method for operating the apparatus. In addition, the present invention is capable of evading, by anticipating, a collision that may occur during the movement of the unmanned airplane. |
