<p>A method of preparing clad steel products is disclosed, which comprises freely fitting a pipe or bar or a pipe and bar into a pipe, cold-drawing the fitted assembly to obtain an intermediate material in which the pipe and bar of the fitted assembly adhere closely to each other, heating the intermediate material and subjecting the heated intermediate material -to hot working for forming the intermediate material into a desired clad steel product such as a clad steel pipe, a clad steel bar or the like. The confronting faces of the pipe and bar are cleaned prior to the fitting operation, and a metal plating layer or metal foil coating layer is formed on the peripheral face of the pipe or bar located inside for preventing carburization. The intermediate material obtained by cold drawing is a clad billet or clad bloom. When a clad bloom is obtained by cold drawing, it is heated and subjected to slabbing to form a clad billet and the formed clad billet is fed to the step of forming a pipe or a linear steel product such as a die steel. The bonded area of the pipe and the like on the end face of the clad bloom or clad billet may be sealed by welding prior to the heating operation so as to prevent occurrence of oxidation in the interior.</p> |
