PURPOSE:To determine the transmission speed with normal processing data to improve the processing efficiency of the whole of the system by normally transmitting data at the transmission speed arranged with a station of the other party and informing this station of the exceptional occurrence of high- density and large capacity data to switch the transmission speed to a higher speed if this data exceptionally occurs. CONSTITUTION:The reception waiting state of a slave station 30 is released by the high speed request command issued from a master station 10, and the master station 10 switches the transmission speed to a higher speed after issuing the command and sets the command queuing time of the slave station 30 to a timer 14. The timer 14 expires by the command to switch the transmission speed to the normal speed, and the try processing is started by re-issue of the high speed request command. When the waiting state of the slave station 30 is released, the slave station 30 checks the command from the master station 10; and if the command is different, the normal command processing is started. If it is the high speed request, the transmission speed is switched to the high speed and a timer 34 is set to inform the master station 10 of preparation completion.
