2-(4-piperidinylamino)-pyridine derivs. of formula (I) and their salts are new: R1-R4 = H, halogen, OH, COOH, CONH2, NO2, CN or SCN; 1-8C alkyl, cyano (1-8C)alkyl, 1-8C alkoxy, 1-8C hydroxyalkyl, 1-8C dihydroxyalkyl, (1-8C)alkoxy (1-8C)alkyl, 1-8C alkylthio, 1-8C alkylsulphinyl, 1-8C alkylsulphonyl, (1-6C)alkylthio (1-8C) alkyl, 2-8C alkenyl, 2-8C alkynyl, 2-8C alkenyloxy, 2-8C alkynyloxy, 2-8C alkenylthio, 2-8C alkynylthio, mono- or di(1-8C alkyl)amino(1-8C)alkyl, (2-8C) alkenyloxy (1-8C) alkyl, (2-8C)alkynyloxy (1-8C)alkyl, (2-8C) alkenylthio (1-8C) alkyl, (2-8C) alkynylthio (1-8C)alkyl, mono- or di (2-8C) alkenyl amino (1-8C) alkyl mono- or di(2-8C alkynyl)amino(1-8C)alkyl, 3-9C cycloalkyl etc. R11, R12 = H; 1-8C alkyl, 2-8C alkenyl, 2-8C alkynyl, (1-8C) alkoxy (1-8C alkyl, 3-9C cycloalkyl, 3-9C heterocyclyl, 1-9C alkanoyl, etc or NR11R12 = a satd. or unsatd. 3- or 12-membered ring, opt. with 1-4 CH2 gps. replaced by NH, PH, O, S and/or SiH2, and opt. with 1-3 substits; R5 = H, 1-6C alkyl, 1-6C hydroxyalkyl, 1-6C mercaptoalkyl, 2-6C alkenyl, 2-6C alkynyl, 1-7C alkanoyl, 1-6C alkylsulphonyl, 1-6C haloalkylsulphonyl, mono- or di(1-6C alkyl) carbamoyl, phenyl, phenyl (2-7C)alkanoyl, etc. R6, R7, R9, and R10 = 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C haloalkyl or phenyl (1-4C)alkyl; R8 = H, OH, O, 1-6C alkyl, CH2CN, 1-7C alkanoyl or benzyl. USE/ADVANTAGE - (I) are fungicides useful for plant protection (e.g. against plasmopara viticola, Phytophthora infestans or Botrytis cinerea), as wood preservatives, and as preservatives in paints and metal-working fluids.
