Building facing block - is produced from a chamfered block of porous concrete

The building facing stone is of porous concrete with a chamfer round it at least at its leading surface. Also claimed is a mfg. process where a block (2) of porous concrete, with equal base surfaces and a thickness which is a multiple of a single finished facing block, has at least two chamfer zones round it on planes parallel to the base surfaces. After chamfering, the block is separated into individual facing blocks parallel to the base surfaces. Also claimed is an appts. with a leading conveyor section (4) to take the block (2) of porous concrete between two chamfering millers (7,8) brought into contact with one set of side edges or surfaces. A second conveyor section (15) carries the block (2) between at least two chamfering millers (18,19) to be brought into contact with the other side edges or surfaces. A third conveyor section (25) with a saw unit (22) cuts the block (2) parallel to its base surfaces. USE/ADVANTAGE - The operation is for the prodn. of facing blocks for buildings. The system gives a cost-effective prodn. of facing blocks of the required appearance.
