PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cosmetic that contains cellulosic fiber to absorb sweat and sebum secreted from skin and prevent the face from shining. SOLUTION: This cosmetic contains cellulose fibers that are impregnated with fibroin dispersion and/or sericin aqueous solution prepared from silk. Silk fiber is treated with acid to be finely cut into fibers of 1-50μm length and the fine fibers are dispersed in water to prepare the fibroin dispersion. Sericin is a low-molecularweight polypeptide and is dissolved in water to prepare the sericin aqueous solution. The cellulose fiber is selected from among wood pulp cellulose fiber, linen cellulose fiber, cotton cellulose fiber and regenerated cellulose fiber. The sericin and/or fibroin in the cosmetic suitably retains the moisture and lipid on the skin to inhibit skin roughening. The cellulose fiber absorbs sebum and sweat and the addition of silver ion to the cosmetic prohibits various germs from inoculating and proliferating.
