<p>An apparatus for composting biologically decomposable refuse comprises at least two cylindrical compost containers (3) with approximately horizontal axes (4), said containers having an inlet (5) for introduction of cut up refuse, a hydraulically driven mixing device in each container for mixing the refuse and comprising a rotor, the axis of which is approximately the same as the axis of the container, and an outlet, through which composted material may be removed. In view of providing an apparatus which, when placed outdoors, may ensure an optimal composting also in periods with cold weather, the compost containers are provided with a heating device in the form of a heating jacket adapted to be flowed through by a liquid heat transfer fluid which is circulated from and tempered in a storage reservoir (13) placed outside the container (3).</p> |
