PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display panel where scattered light is absorbed by a light absorbing film and prevented from returning to the liquid crystal layers of respective liquid crystal panels again, whereby display contrast is improved. SOLUTION: A light beam emitted from a lamp 11b is reflected by a plane mirror 13 after the ultraviolet ray and the infrared ray thereof are cut by a UVIR cut mirror 12a, and becomes an incident light beam 283b, which is made incident on a dichroic prism 181. A reflection type polymer dispersed liquid crystal panel 15 is stuck to the prism 181. The light absorbing film is formed in the reactive area of the prism. The light beams R, G and B are modulated by the respective panels 15, and the modulated light beams are made incident on the light separating and synthesizing surface 20 of the prism 181, and become an emitted light beam 283a, which is condensed by a lens 181b and a projection lens 181 and projected to a screen. |
