PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrial vehicle that can quickly change a direction when changing the direction in a state that the vehicle is in a high-speed gear step. SOLUTION: When the operation of the direction change of a wheel roader is performed when traveling in a state that a speed gear of a transmission 2 is in high-speed gear step (third-speed gear or fourth-speed gear), a control device 31 controls the transmission 2, changes the direction of the wheel roader, and shift down a speed gear to a second-speed gear step in the direction to be changed. By this, a third-speed gear or a fourth-speed gear being speed gears at the direction change are shifted down to a second-speed gear step by the control device 31, whereby a strong engine brake is actuated to reduce speed and a reverse drive force is braked, thus enabling the quick change of the direction.
