<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enlarge the sweet spot of a head and improve stability at the time of hitting in a head for an iron type golf club. SOLUTION: A weight is provided on the rear side of a face plate 3. The weight 11 is provided extending from the rear side 19 of the face plate 3 to a rear shell 5. Accordingly, at the time of hitting, the center of gravity of the head 1 can be positioned in rear by the weight 11, so that the distance between the face and the center of gravity can be made longer so as to enlarge the sweet spot. The weight (mass) balance of the weight 11 is distributed separately on both sides, the heal 8 side and the toe 9 side, so that at the time of hitting a golf ball, the inertia moment of the head 1 can be enlarged so as to improve stability of the head at the time of hitting. As the weight 11 is fixed to the rear shell 5, the strength of the face can be increased so as improve feeling of hitting.</p> |
