PURPOSE:To improve the operability of a document processor by changing the storing order of plural pieces of document information by a reference word or a phrase contained in those information according to the relevant menu screen in a rearrangement mode and then extracting the document information containing the desired word or phrase according to the relevant menu screen in an extraction mode respectively. CONSTITUTION:When a central processing unit CPU 1 supplies the control signal to a display device, a recording device, etc., a control procedure program and a document editing program are stored in a program area 2A in a ROM 2. At the same time, the sorting and selection processing menu screens are stored in the display data parts 2B and 2C respectively. While a readable/ writable RAM 3 includes a text area for the storage of input codes and areas for the storage of the working states of each device together with the areas 7 and 8 for storage of the sorting and selection designating data supplied through menu screens and a merge data document memory area 9 for the storage of the document information.
