PURPOSE:To secure the content of a transmitted data from being known by a third person even when a specific user on the reception-side is not at the equipment by providing a means to detect a confidential code from a reception data, a storing means, a calling means, and a controlling means. CONSTITUTION:An operator on the transmission-side transmits a sound signal requesting for that an operator on the reception-side will transmit within a certain time the code of a password number that specifies a particular user at the destination of the confidential transmission by means the push-button of an attached dual tone multi-frequency code DTMF type telephone set. On the reception-side, when a DTMF detecting circuit 7 detects the pass word, a called identification CED signal is transmitted to the transmission-side, and then the function passed by the equipment on the reception-side is informed to the opposite. The transmission-side equipment specifies a desired mode of communication to the reception-side. When the reception is ready, the READY is informed to the transmission-side by means of a CFR(reception-ready confirmation) signal. The reception-side equipment receives a picture data, however, differing from the case of usual reception, the received picture data is stored in a nonvolatile memory 10 without outputting a recording.
