PURPOSE:To improve an output across the wide operating state of an engine by mounting electrically driven mechanisms on rotary shafts of respective turbochargers whose exhaust passages are connected in series to each other, while providing a rotating electric machine connected to an engine rotary shaft so as to selectively control them in response to the engine operating state. CONSTITUTION:First/second turbochargers 2, 4 are mounted in series, and electrically driven mechanisms 3, 5 capable of operating as an electric motor or a power generator are installed on respective exhaust turbines 21, 41 thereof. In addition, a rotating electric machine 7 engaged with the rotary shaft of an engine 1 by a gear is provided, and it is operated as a power generator when it is driven by the engine 1, or it functions as an electric motor when electricity is supplied from a power dual converter 71. Further, dual converters 73, 75 respective consisting of A.C. and D.C. converters are provided, and D.C. sides of the dual converters 73, 75 are connected to D.C. terminals of the power dual converter 71 while connecting A.C. sides thereof to the electrically driven mechanisms 3, 5. In a controller 6, a prescribed arithmetic process is carried out in compliance with signals from respective sensors so as to control the dual converters 73, 75 and the like. |
