A field emitting surface is evenly cut by laser radiation so as to provide an emitting surface located substantially in one plane and with desired dimensions. The emitting surface is treated with subsequent laser radiation in order to perfect the emitting surface. - Independent claims are also included for the following: - (a) a field emission cathode; - (b) and light source.
