PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat pump device capable of realizing so-called charge-free in connecting pipes of inter-unit piping. SOLUTION: In this heat pump device, a freezing cycle is constituted by circularly arranging a compressor 2, an evaporator 3, an electric expansion valve 5 and a gas cooler 11, one unit 41 provided with at least the gas cooler 11 among the components of the freezing cycle and the other unit 40 provided with at least the evaporator 3 are connected by the inter-unit piping 17, and a refrigerant reaching a supercritical pressure at its high-pressure side during the operation is sealed in the freezing cycle. This heat pump device comprises a measuring means 21 for measuring a state quantity at the high-pressure side, and a control means 23 for controlling a valve opening of the electric expansion valve in accordance with the state quantity measured by the measuring means, and keeping the state quantity at a specific state quantity.
