<p>Small interfering ribonucleic acid duplexes that inhibit gene expression containing at least one arabinose modified nucleotide are provided. Preferably, the duplexes contain ribonucleotides at least one arabinose modified nucleotide is 2'-deoxy-2'-fluoroarabinonucleotide (FANA) nucleotide.</p>
