PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for a lead wire for a capacitor by which no whisker is generated on a surface of the lead wire for the capacitor, the lead wire being formed by welding a copper-plated iron wire and an aluminum wire together, and to provided the lead wire for the capacitor. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method includes a welding step of welding the copper-plated iron wire 11 and aluminum wire 12 together to form the lead wire 10 for the capacitor, and a lead wire plating step of applying tin-plating to a predetermined part which is the surface of the lead wire 10 for the capacitor and does not include the weld zone.
