PURPOSE:To attain phase modulation only by only one DA converter and only one balance modulator in a DC/AC type phase modulator by selecting carriers and signal waves to be processed by a balance modulating circuit according to their levels. CONSTITUTION:In respect to carriers and signal waves to be processed by a balance modulating circuit 17 at the time of balance modulation, two carriers are selected by a signal from an area discriminating circuit 14 in response to the level of a digital signal phi(t) and the sine and cosine components of the input digital signal phi(t) are used as the signal waves. Thus, the phase modulation can be attained only one DA converter 13 and one balance modulating circuit 13. |
