PURPOSE:To smoothly receive an information signal even when there is no recording material by changing over to the second mode correspondingly, storing information in a storing means once, reading and recording thereafter when there is a detection signal relating to the presence or the absence of the recording material in the first mode for recording the information in the recording material by a recording means. CONSTITUTION:When a facsimile equipment is in a state of a receiving, the information signal transmitted through a public telephone line 211 is received by a line control part 213 controlled by a line control signal 235 supplied by a main control part 219, the received signal 237 is converted by a modem 215 and the converted signal 239 is restored in data in the data restoration circuit of a compression/restoration part 217. During a receiving and recording of the information in a recording mode, when a recording paper is completed and a recording paper detection signal 227 is generated, the main control part 219 stores a restoration data signal 241 in a file, after all the information is completely received, the information is read, and recorded again after the recording paper is replenished to a reading signal 233.
