Disclosed are a device for controlling a brake, which reduces casualties and prevents damage to a vehicle, and a method for controlling the brake. The device for controlling a brake in accordance with the present invention, comprises: a detecting part which performs at least one of operation for detecting current engine rotation speeds, operation for detecting current accelerator pedal information, and operation for detecting current wheel speeds; a determination part which performs at least one of operation for determining whether the detected current engine rotation speed is out of a preset reference engine rotation speed range, operation for determining whether the detected current accelerator pedal information is not preset reference accelerator pedal information, and operation for determining whether the detected current wheel speed is out of a preset reference wheel speed range; and a control part which transfers braking instructions to an electronic parking brake device so that the electronic parking brake device can perform braking if the current engine rotation speed is out of the reference engine rotation speed, the current accelerator pedal information is not the reference accelerator pedal information, and the current wheel speed is out of the reference wheel speed range. |
