PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pasteurization method, which can reduce loss of the liquid to be treated during the start-up period. SOLUTION: This method switches the change-over valve 24 to the B direction, when the pasteurizer is started up, to circulate the liquid 2 to be treated in the circulation loop comprising the tank 4 for the untreated liquid, pump 6, preheater 8, pasteurization section 10, changeover valve 24, and circulation pipe 26. Then, the changeover valve 24 is switched to the direction A, to open the circulation loop, and the liquid 2 is pasteurization-treated in a pulse electrical field Ep in the pasteurization section 10, while the treated liquid is discharged to the downstream side. |
