<p>The compact mounting secures a milling cutter (17) and uses a conical wedging action to secure a mandrel (8) in a hollow (7) drive shaft (1), and to secure a tool-holder (10) in the mandrel (8). A bolt (15) through the hollow core (7) of the shaft applies traction to both components (8, 10). The drive shaft (1) has a plane diametric upper bearing surface (2) and is traversed by an axial hole (7). Approximately the lower half of the forms a female conical recess (6) which receives the male conical projection (11) from the rear of the mandrel (8). The mandrel (8) is similarly traversed by an axial hole (18) and provides a female conical recess (13) for various tool-holders (10). The bolt (15) anchors (16) on the surface (2) and in the rear of the tool-holder (10). The base of the shaft (1) may have a flange with lugs (4) which lock a mandrel (8) flange against rotation.</p> |
