PURPOSE:To prevent the X-rays generated inside of a tube from leaking outside of the tube while improving the picture brightness by forming a silver metal layer and a silver sulfide layer on the beam scanning side of a phosphor screen reproducing an image picture. CONSTITUTION:A metal layer 17 mainly consisting of silver is formed on the electron beam scanning side of a phosphor scree 5 formed inside of a panel 2 of a cathode-ray tube while further outside thereof, a silver sulfied layer 18 having a thermal radiation characteristic close to a complete black substance is formed. And electron beams are made to pass through a shadow mask 9, which is a color selective mechanism, in order to generate fluorescence on the phosphor screen 5 while further being made to pass the silver sulfide layer 18 and the silver metal layer 17. Accordingly, by changing the metal layer 17 from the former alminium to silver sulfide, the X-rays are efficiently prevented from leaking outside of the tube while improving the brightness of the colors of blue, green and red respectively as well as the brightness of the pictures. |
