摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal transmission system, improved at the point of error monitoring by installing a peak detector, having the descending time characteristic of continuation time which is substantially longer than that of a rise time characteristic and having a continuation time characteristic, where the descending time characteristic is substantially longer than the longest bit period of traffic. SOLUTION: Data is transmitted from a transmitter 1 to a receiver 2 through an optical waveguide 3 by an optical system. An optical signal is outputted/ modulated by data traffic that the optical signal transmits, and data is actually constituted of a high frequency modulation. An overhead detector (peak detector) 21, having a descending time characteristic being continuation time which is actually longer than a rise time characteristic and having duration time, where the descending time characteristic is substantially longer than the longest bit period, is installed. It is desirable that an optical path overhead signal be included in the optical signal, so that data transmission is precisely managed and that the optical path overhead signal be detected by the optical path overhead detector 21.
