Joining of components by forming operations

The method concerns joining of components by forming operations, according to which overlapping components to be joined are subjected to local plastic deformation, with or without use of an auxiliary joining element, by means of a joining tool consisting of a punch, holding-down elements and a die. The method is characterised by the fact that before the forming operations are applied, the components are heated by contact with preheated tool elements or by contactless heat supply in their joining zones until they are sufficiently formable. Also claimed is an apparatus for implementation of the proposed method.
