PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a mobile object from a picture with high precision by exactly separating a background from the mobile object under the consideration of not only the uncertainty of the momentum of a picture itself but also the reliability of the momentum according to the situation of a scene at the time of photographing the background and the mobile object by a camera. SOLUTION: A time-sequential picture obtained by photographing a background and a mobile object is inputted from a picture inputting part 11. Each successively inputted picture is divided by a prescribed unit by a momentum reliability detecting part 12, a momentum between the pictures is calculated in each divided area, and the reliability of the momentum is calculated. Then, an area in which a certain part performs altogether similar movement (an area with dominant movement) in the pertinent input picture is detected as a background area based on the momentum between the pictures in each above mentioned divided area and the reliability by a background area detecting part 13. An area except the background area is detected as a mobile area based on the momentum of the above mentioned background area by a mobile area candidate detecting part 14 and a mobile area detecting part 15. |
