Adjusting method comprises positioning an influencing element (9) which gradually changes in the direction of larger magnetic fields so that each positioning of the element impinges and tests the coil (5) and fixing the element during effective positioning so that the coil transfers a triggering element (6) into a triggering position. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) Overload tripping device; and (2) Series of overload tripping devices. Preferred Features: The influencing element is formed as a thread-less bolt which is positioned by sliding in a guide (10). The influencing element and the guide have threads which interact with each other and the element is positioned by twisting.
