PURPOSE:To obtain an electrochemical element having excellent responsiveness and durability by providing a porous solid electrolyte layer between at least one electrode of 1st and 2nd cermet electrodes and a solid electrolyte layer by simultaneous calcination. CONSTITUTION:The porous solid electrolyte layer 2 is coated on the outside surface of the hermetic solid electrolyte 1 has a bottomed cylindrical shape and consists of partially stabilized zirconia and further, the 1st cermet electrode is coated on the outside thereof, then the layer and the electrode are integrally calcined. The 2nd cermet electrode 6 is formed by plating one the inside surface. The outside surface of the solid electrolyte 1 in this case is exposed to the space where a gas to be measured exists and the outside surface is exposed to the air as a reference gas. The partial pressure of O2 in the gas to be measured based on the air is, therefore, detected by the electromotive force generated between the 1st electrode 4 and the 2nd electrode 6. |
