The system for the formation of a poster constituted by sheets whose edges extend in two perpendicular directions comprises two tables. The first table (4) is used for the assembly of two sheets after cutting along a line parallel to one direction to form a sheet assembly. The second table is used for the assembly of two sheet assemblies after cutting along a line parallel to the second perpendicular direction. The second table also enables fixing fastening or reinforcing band on one of the poster edges. The tables have a plane work surface (5) formed by a caisson (6) supported by a frame (7). The sheets are temporarily immobilised by suction through several holes (24) in the caisson surface communicating with a suction pump (26).
