PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording paper of which the light-resistance and the indoor discoloration property are improved without unfavorably affecting the ink absorbing property. SOLUTION: For this recording paper, an ink absorbing layer containing at least an inorganic particle, a hydrophilic binder and a nitrogen-containing compound is provided on a non-water-absorbent supporting body. In this case, the peak area ratio (N1S/C1S) of a carbon atom 1S for which the cross section in the film thickness direction of the ink absorbing layer measured by an X-ray photoelectric spectrometry to a nitrogen atom 1S which has not become an ammonium salt, is 0.01 to 0.2. Also, the area ratio of a section which is approx. 1/3 from the surface of the overall film thickness is higher by 0.01 or more than the area ratio of a section other than that. |
