PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve thermal responsibility and image preservation properties against heat, humidity, and chemicals by incorporating a specified diphenyl sulfone derivative and a hydroxy benzoic acid derivative as electron accepting compounds which color a usually colorless or hypochromic electron-donative dye precursor by a reaction during heating. SOLUTION: In a thermal recording material containing a usually colorless or hypochromic electron donative die precursor and an electron accepting compound which colors the precursor by a reaction during heating, a diphenyl sulfone derivative expressed by formula I and a hydroxy benzoic acid derivative are incorporated as electron accepting compounds.
