The asymmetric, non-magnetic, current-conducting parts (7) are introduced into an alternating magnetic field (B) in such a manner that the field has the same density behaviour on both asymmetric sides of the part (7). The sorting is then carried out on the basis of the feature of a larger or smaller electrodynamic attraction force (F1, F2), which a ferromagnetic element (13) exerts on the part (7), which is acted on by the induced currents, in the magnetic field (B). The induced currents are a function of the position of the asymmetry feature in the current-conducting part (7). The device for carrying out this method contains a C-shaped electromagnet (5) and a groove (6) for feeding the parts, and a groove (8) for carrying the sorted parts away. The electromagnet (5) produces a homogeneous magnetic field (B), at least one of the two poles (13) of said electromagnet (5) being used as the ferromagnetic element. It is now possible reliably to sort asymmetric, non-magnetic, current-conducting parts, even with asymmetry features which do not stand out. The method is suitable for equipment construction, for example in the electrical and radio industries. <IMAGE>
