PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To vary the tension of a seatbelt according to the degree of danger in an area (block) in which a vehicle is traveling or a travel point (site). SOLUTION: A navigation system detects the position of a vehicle (11-13), and increases seatbelt tension in advance before reaching a curve or a dangerous point such as a crossing (14, 15, 110), thus providing effective occupant restraint even in the event of a collision. Since the probability of accidents is high at curves or crossings, the tension of the seatbelt is intermittently varied for alarming if the speed of the vehicle is equal to or greater than a predetermined value before the vehicle enters the curve or crossing. |
