PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid discharge device effectively performing cleaning of a wipe member. SOLUTION: The liquid discharge device comprises: a liquid discharge head 3 having a liquid discharge surface 27 on which liquid discharge nozzles 26 for discharging a liquid are arranged; the wipe member 34 sliding in contact with the liquid discharge surface 27 to wipe out the liquid discharge surface 27; a moving member 5 having the wipe member 34 disposed thereon and moving the wipe member 34 between a position where the wipe member 34 is opposed to the liquid discharge head 3 and a position where the wipe member 34 is evacuated from the liquid discharge head 3; and a wipe cleaning belt 103 cleaning the wipe member 34 by sliding in contact with the wipe member 34 moved to the position where the wipe member 34 is evacuated from the liquid discharge head 3 and having rugged shape on its surface opposed to the liquid discharge surface 27.
