PURPOSE: To easily and inexpensively provide a communication cable which is excellent in strength and moisture block characteristics and which is made thinner than a conventional cable by providing a simple and small size moisture block system having high strength and moisture block characteristics. CONSTITUTION: This cable has a core 22 including a longitudinal axis 21 and at least one transmission medium 24, and also has a relatively flexible plastic material layer 26 arranged in the periphery of the core 22. A relatively hard jacket 28, which has a relatively uniform thickness and is made of plastic material, is arranged in the periphery of the plastic material layer 26. At least one yarn member 40 is spirally wound around the plastic material layer 26. Blended yarns 42 and 44 containing moisture block fibers and relatively high strength fibers are used as the yarn member 40. Typically, the first and second blended yarns are spirally wound in opposite directions. |
