PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust an optical transmission level in each slave station optimumly and automatically without even tentatively stopping the service to slave stations in operation. SOLUTION: A master station sends a 1st command signal whose timing control slot is set with a branch number to slave stations and a 2nd command signal whose timing control slot is set with a time till reception of a response signal with respect to the 1st command signal from the transmission of the 1st command signal is sent to the slave stations. A loss memory section 27-1 of each slave station sends a transmission line loss corresponding to branch information from a latch section 26-1 and a transmission timing value. A current level memory section 28-1 sends a current level corresponding to the transmission loss value to a current adjustment section 29-1. The current adjustment section 29-1 converts a current level into a current. An LD section 30-1 sends a signal to the master station with an optical power corresponding to the current.
