PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a rare earth magnet material powder superior in magnetic anisotropy by plastically forming an RT12 based alloy material during the hydrogen absorbing and/or dehydrogenizing. SOLUTION: This R-T-N rare earth magnet material powder producing method comprises a hydrogen absorption treatment of an RT1 based alloy material composed of a rare earth element R including Y, and Fe or Fe partly substituted by at least one of Ga, Zr, Nb, Hf, Ta, Al, Si, V, Ti, Cr, W, Mo, Sn, and Pb 0.05-50atm.% (T) in a hydrogen or hydrogen-inert gas mixture atmosphere at specified temp. within a range of 500-1000 deg.C, a dehydrogenizing treatment held at specified temp. within a range of 500-1000 deg.C in a vacuum atmosphere of 1Torr or less, and nitrifying treatment at specified temp. within a range of 300-800 deg.C during which a plastic process is applied to the RT12 based alloy material. |
