PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an open type cooling tower capable of surely preventing the blockage in accompany with the freeze of outside air introduction ports provided with louvers. SOLUTION: This open type cooling tower comprises a filling material 12 accommodated in a casing 11, the pair of outside air introduction ports formed on both side faces of the casing 11 and provided with the louvers 13, an upper water tank 14 mounted at an upper part of the filler material 12 for spraying the water to the filler material 12 while storing the circulated water before cooling introduced by a circulation going pipe 21, a lower water tank 15 mounted at a lower part of the filler material 12 for temporarily storing the circulated water flowing and dropping over the filling material 12, and an outside air introduction fan 16 for taking in the outside air from the outside air introduction ports and allowing the outside air to pass through the filler material 12. A clearance of a certain degree is formed between the louver 13 and the filler material 12. The lower water tank 15 and the louver 13 are connected by an inclined pan 17, and a water spraying member 24 connected with the circulation going pipe 21 is mounted at an upper part of the inclined pan 17 for spraying the circulated water before cooling to the inclined pan 17.
