a plurality of flow directing elements disposed in a compressed air flow path leading to a combustor; the flow directing elements configured for relative adjustment of at least one flow directing element with respect to an adjacent flow directing element during operation of the gas turbine engine effective to adjust a level of choking of the compressed air flow path; and wherein the flow directing elements comprise a plurality of airfoils establishing flow conditioning paths between respective airfoils, wherein the adjustment of the at least one flow directing element comprises moving at least one airfoil relative to an adjacent airfoil. |
