PURPOSE: To make an electrode sealing part withstand without being damaged even by high operating current. CONSTITUTION: In a high-pressure discharge lamp for lamp current of 20A or more, cylindrical glass spherical neck parts 3, 4 are mounted on both end parts located in the axial direction of a revolution symmetry discharge chamber 2, respectively. The tip parts on the opposite side to the discharge chambers 2 of both electrode shafts and the tip parts on the side of the discharge chambers 2 of both of current supply lines ate inserted into metallic discs 7, 8, respectively, and are brazed to these discs. Both of the metallic discs 7, 8 within each of the glass spherical neck parts 3, 4 are electrically joined each other by at least two sealing foils 11 to 16. Each of both the glass spherical neck parts 3, 4 is constituted of a solid quartz glass cylindrical body. Within this quartz glass cylindrical body, the sealing foils 11 to 16 are airtighly sealed. |
