摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an inexpensive device without image quality deterioration even when a high definition image is required by setting the focus distance of a microlens to be longer than the distance between a microlens array and an image element substrate and permitting light collected by respective microlenses to be focused inside the image element substrate. SOLUTION: The focus distance f of the microlens ML is set to be longer than distance d between the microlens ML and image element electrodes 21B, 21R and 21G and also the focus position is set in the inside of the glass substrate 21a of the image element substrate 21. The respective color lights of B, R and G respectively focused inside the glass substrate 21a are spread with respective diffusion angles ϕB, ϕR and ϕG again so as to be emitted from the glass substrate 21a. In this case, by the configuration, the diffusion angles ϕB, ϕR and ϕG are reduced to be small. Therefore, the diffusion angles of emitted lights from an LCD pannel are reduced to be small and vegnetting does not occur even when the effective diameter of a projection lens is small (even when an F value is large).
