PURPOSE: A novel strain, Rhodococcus koreensis DNP 505(KCTC 0569 BP) decomposing 2,4-dinitrophenol is provided, which is useful in clarifying waste water, sewage, soil which are polluted with 2,4-dinitrophenol. CONSTITUTION: A novel strain, Rhodococcus koreensis DNP 505(KCTC 0569 BP) is characterized by having a decomposability against an aromatic compound. The aromatic compound is characterized by comprising phenol, 2-nitrophenol, 2,4-dinitrophenol, 4-chlorophenol, 2,4-dichlorophenol, benzoic acid, 2-hydroxy benzoic acid, 2-cresol, 3-cresol, 4-cresol. A treatment method of waste water, sewage, soil is characterized by culturing the Rhodococcus koreensis DNP 505 at pH 7.2, 30deg.C. The Rhodococcus koreensis DNP 505 has meso type DAP(diaminopimellic acid) in a cell wall, menaquinone (MK)-8(H2) as isoprenoid quinone, mycolic acid of carbon number 43-53, 66% G/C composition.
