PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing a 4-unsaturated δ-lactone useful as a synthetic raw material for medicine, agrochemical, perfume, dye, etc. SOLUTION: An α,β-unsaturated aldehyde of the general formula R1-CH=CR2- CHO (R1 is a 1-5C alkyl group which may be branched or a phenyl group; and R2 is a hydrogen atom, a 1-4C alkyl group which may be branched or a phenyl group) is reacted with a ketone by using a Lewis acid complex compound as a catalyst to produce the 4-unsaturated δ-lactone of general formula (1) (R1 and R2 are as shown in the above general formula). |
