METHOD AND DEVICE FOR RECORDING CONTROL INFORMATION AND DATA IN MEMORY MEDIUM

PURPOSE: To efficiently attain the recording and management of control information in a recording medium. CONSTITUTION: The recording of data can be started by an arbitrary light recording device which records the maximum value file token whose numeric value is larger than that of the previous maximum value token in a control area without recording a token indicating a recording file at each time of recording each file, and receives a disk by using the maximum value token. When a file indicating token value reaches the maximum value token, a new maximum value token is prepared (67). A pseudo EOV value indicating one of the addressable data storage areas of a disk which are assigned but not recorded is maintained as the EOV. All the assigned data areas having an address larger than the EOV value are continuously recorded in the address-designated data areas. When the data areas having the address higher than the EOV are not recorded, the EOV is updated so that the unrecorded assigned data areas can be indicated.
