The invention relates to an elevator drive machine comprising at least two electric motors and a traction sheave. The traction sheave is placed between the motors. The solution provides a higher torque than conventional solutions. The invention also relates to an elevator in which the drive machine of the invenion is made use of in respect of space utilisation.
