PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical receiver of a balance detector arrangement wherein noise can be reduced and polarity-independent bias can be applied, and a method for manufacturing the receiver. SOLUTION: The optical receiver (10) is provided with a first pair of photodiodes (D1, D2) which are connected in series between a first terminal (11) and a common terminal (16), and a second pair of photodiodes (D3, D4) which are connected in series between a second terminal (12) and the common terminal (16). The pairs of photodiodes (D1, D2; D3, D4) are arranged in face to face with each other. The photodiodes (D1, D2; D3, D4) and the terminals (11, 12, 16) are formed on one sheet of wafer by using semiconductor technique. |
