PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long-term stabilized and economical process for producing the corresponding nitrile compound in high yield, as the unreacting ammonia is recovered from the reaction gas mixture and is allowed to turn back into the reaction system, when a cyclic carbon compound or a heterocyclic compound is ammoxidized through the vapor-phase fluidized catalytic reaction to the corresponding nitrile compound. SOLUTION: The ammoxidation reaction is carried out in the presence of a catalyst including one or more kinds of metal oxides selected from vanadium, molybdenum and iron, as the moisture concentration is kept at <=12 vol.% in the gas mixture that is fed into the reactor.
